I4G Cybersecurity Scholarship: Bridging the Cybersecurity Skills Gap in Africa

Africa is undergoing a digital transformation, with more individuals and organizations using digital technologies to drive growth and development. However, as African countries increasingly rely on digital technology to drive economic growth and development, they also become more vulnerable to cyber threats.This can slow down the adoption of digital technology, which is necessary for Africa to remain competitive in the global economy

Africa has a significant shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals, and this gap is expected to widen further in the coming years. Many African organizations and individuals lack awareness of the importance of cybersecurity, making them vulnerable to cyber threats.

To address this challenge, Ingressive for Good (I4G) and Cisco have partnered to provide the I4G Cybersecurity Scholarship to African youths. The scholarship aims to provide free cybersecurity training to African youths, thereby bridging the cybersecurity skills gap in Africa.

The Relevance to STISA

The I4G Cybersecurity Scholarship is also relevant to the African Union’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA). STISA seeks to promote innovation and digital transformation in Africa by leveraging science, technology, and innovation. The scholarship aligns with STISA’s objectives by providing African youths with the skills and knowledge needed to drive innovation and digital transformation securely.

The Cybersecurity Skills Gap in Africa

The scholarship aims to contribute towardds addressing the significant challenges Africa faces in building a robust cybersecurity workforce. The growing cybersecurity skills gap in Africa is due to limited access to cybersecurity training, inadequate cybersecurity policies and regulations, and a shortage of cybersecurity professionals.

The I4G Cybersecurity Scholarship aims to address these gaps by providing free cybersecurity training to African youths.
