Bridging the Digital Skills Gap with Microsoft Skills for Jobs Nigeria
As Nigeria’s Tech Mentor of the Year 2024, I remain deeply committed to leveraging mentorship and digital skills development to unlock potential and drive sustainable growth across Nigeria and Africa. Indeed, that’s why I’m proud to support Microsoft Skills for Jobs Nigeria, an initiative empowering Nigerians with the digital skills needed for global opportunities.
One of the biggest challenges in our tech sector is the skills gap. Many aspiring professionals lack the industry-relevant training required to compete globally. This is why I am excited to be part of a transformative initiative that equips Nigerians with top tech skills and global opportunities.
Introducing Microsoft Skills for Jobs Nigeria
I am honoured to announce my appointment as a Strategic Partner for Microsoft Skills for Jobs Nigeria. This initiative is an empowerment program designed to equip Nigerians with in-demand tech skills through a series of microdegree programs. Powered by Microsoft, KAMK University Finland, and industry partners, the Microsoft Skills for Jobs Nigeria program offers specialized training in:
✅ Cloud & Cybersecurity
✅ Power Platform
✅ AI Development
✅ Practical AI
The program spans one year, with each microdegree lasting three months. Participants will earn a microdegree upon completing each course, gaining globally recognized skills in these important skill areas.
Mentorship & Career Growth
Beyond technical training, mentorship and career guidance are critical for professional growth. This program integrates mentorship inputs into each microdegree, ensuring participants gain both knowledge and practical insights.
Qualifications alone are no longer enough. Practical skills and mentorship are essential.
Each microdegree is tailored to meet specific industry needs, and participants will receive verifiable digital badges (LinkedIn badges) to showcase their competencies online. Training is aligned with European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) standards, positioning learners for both local and international opportunities.
Microdegree Programs and ECTS Credits
The microdegree programs focus on specific ICT competencies, allowing learners to demonstrate mastery in high-demand tech areas without completing a full degree program. Each course awards European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits, recognized across the European Higher Education Area:
AI Developer: 10 ECTS Credits
Cloud and Cybersecurity: 12 ECTS Credits
Practical AI: 2 ECTS Credits
Power Platform: 8 ECTS Credits
Total ECTS Credits: 32
Why Microdegrees?
Microdegree programs are increasingly valuable in fast-evolving fields like technology, where specific skill sets are in high demand. Upon completion, learners receive:
✔️ Digital LinkedIn badges to validate expertise
✔️ ECTS study credits, transferable within the EU Higher Education system
The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) enhances transparency and facilitates the recognition of academic qualifications across countries.
Why Microsoft Skills for Jobs Nigeria Matters
The Microsoft Skills for Jobs program empowers Nigerians to:
✔️ Gain in-demand tech skills, boosting employability and career prospects
✔️ Earn ECTS credits, transferable within the EU Higher Education system
✔️ Showcase skills with LinkedIn badges for professional visibility
