Green Tech and Energy Revolution: Dialogue for Africa’s Future: TED 2025

On September 26, 2025, the 3rd Edition of the Technology Ecosystem Dialogue (TED 2025) will take place at the NAF Conference Center in Abuja. This year’s theme, “Green Tech and Energy Revolution – Transforming Business and Society,” comes at a crucial moment for Nigeria and the entire African continent.

The Urgent Need for a Green Tech and Energy Revolution

Africa’s journey toward long-term prosperity is directly tied to its ability to embrace innovation and drive systemic change. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Nigeria’s persistent energy crisis.

With an estimated 22 million small generators consuming over $14 billion annually, much of the nation’s economic activity is powered by expensive, inefficient, and polluting means. This dependence not only drains household incomes but also hinders development, pollutes our environment, and traps communities in energy poverty.

This silent crisis shows us that we are literally burning money that could instead be building renewable energy grids, schools, hospitals, and digital infrastructure. The bigger lesson is clear: Africa does not lack resources. It needs bold, intentional, and innovative action.

Beyond Power: A Catalyst for Change

Without reliable energy, schools cannot operate effectively, hospitals cannot provide critical care, and industries cannot compete. The nation cannot be globally competitive.

That is why the green technology and energy revolution must be seen as more than just a power solution. It is the entry point to Africa’s systemic transformation. To unlock Africa’s potential. To build an innovative, inclusive, prosperous and sustainable continent.

By investing in clean energy, we are simultaneously investing in:

  • Education
  • Modern governance
  • Durable infrastructure
  • Africa’s global competitiveness

Events like TED 2025 are essential because they bring together policymakers, innovators, investors, and educators to address these systemic issues. A conversation on green technology naturally evolves into discussions about institutions, skills, culture, and partnerships needed to secure Africa’s future.

Driving the Green Tech and Energy Revolution Forward

The core value of TED 2025 is bridging the gap between bold ideas and tangible solutions. Key areas of focus include:

🎓 Education & Skills

How do we equip Africa’s youth with the tools for a green economy? TED 2025 will spotlight STEM education, vocational training, and green tech entrepreneurship.

🤝 Partnerships & Investment

What mechanisms will mobilize the funding needed for both clean energy infrastructure and the talent pipeline to sustain it?

🏛 Governance & Institutions

Which policies and regulatory frameworks can unlock long-term trust and investment from local and international stakeholders?

🌍 Cultural Shift & Innovation

How do we foster a mindset of creativity, productivity, and problem-solving, while also celebrating African identity? The National Green Innovation Hackthon is therefore a major highlight of the event.

Reimagining Africa’s Future

At its core, technology is a tool, not the final goal. TED 2025 emphasizes that true transformation comes from deliberate, systemic effort.

By applying science, engineering, and innovation to Africa’s deepest challenges, we can build a future where:

  • Sunlight becomes power
  • Waste turns into wealth
  • Potential transforms into prosperity

Be Part of the Future

TED 2025 is not just a conversation. It is a pragmatic bridge between Nigeria’s urgent energy crisis and the deeper transformation Africa needs. Kudos to Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN), led by its founder, Andrew Abu, for organizing this important event in collaboration with worthy and credible partners, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the National Assembly Committee on Renewable Energy.

👉 Be part of the future!
