07:15 am on 2013-09-28
Truly there is potential in the youth. We at Jidaw do not just see but we are amazed by the potential. But the situation is still far from ideal. Potential is nothing more than potential. What should students do? Nigerian Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) and other youth empowerment forums need to look at how young people can empower themselves. Are you a student, a NACOSSite, a young Nigerian with interest in the IT sector? What can you do?
Are you really helpless? Our take at Jidaw is that even if reality
appears unfriendly, students should face reality without becoming prisoners to
reality.
Leaders do not determine your impact and future. You are in charge. Take
responsibility. Own your progress. You are the CEO of your life. NOBODY ELSE! Start
nurturing and owning your strengths, and becoming proactive in making your
future happen. It is about setting the agenda and participating actively in the
creation of your own destiny.
The promise in ICT
comes with responsibility. Stop waiting, complaining or pretending and take
charge. Your choices are yours. You, and nobody else, have got to deal with the
consequences of your choices. Jidaw and others provide guides and support. But
own your decisions. Although crowd mentality maybe appear comfortable, it is
irresponsible.
Promise and technology guarantee nothing. You work best to change your world when you are educated and empowered. Jidaw
insists that you must look at youth empowerment attitudes and practices that
work for you. Progress has no alternative.
HAVE YOUR SAY: Is youth innovation making impact in Nigeria? How can students improve quality in their empowerment efforts? Please share your comments, thoughts and opinions.
